You Made Our Day Webster Students!
The students at L.C. Webster school in St. Paul, Minnesota, certainly brightened our day. They sent us thank you notes and hand-made posters. It would have made us smile any day, but it was an especially wonderful way to start the morning on this cloudy, cold, dreary day.
The class went on a field trip to a machine shop and their teacher thought they would get more out of the experience if they had some understanding of CNC machines before they went. We sent them Hurco catalogs (and some pens and stickers).
In addition to the artwork, we received handwritten thank you notes. Morgan said she uses her Hurco pen each day to do her homework when she's riding the bus home. She thanked us for taking time out of our work day to send the class brochures, stickers, and pens. Leah said she liked getting to see all of the machines on the field trip and the parts the people make on the machines--especially the aluminum part shaped like their state that had a panda on it!
Hats off to the entire L.C. Webster school, but especially to their teacher for sharing the world of manufacturing with these young students!
Camera crew covers Hurco engineers.
There was some excitement at Hurco this week as two of our engineers stepped into the spotlight to promote careers in engineering. The crew from Richmarc Productions was at our international headquarters here in Indianapolis to interview Pete Baechle and Paul Widener.
When we embarked upon the venture we named "The Hurco Chipmaker Challenge," we knew we wanted to get some publicity for manufacturing entrepreneurs. We knew we wanted to add some excitement to IMTS without resorting to gimmicks (that's another post for another time). We also wanted to engage younger people.
